#mayskinchallenge Day 25 ANTI HAUL/WHAT IM NOT BUYING
I'm not on an "anti haul" per se. Sure, there are a lot of brands I really have no particular interest in and you probably won't ever see them in my feed. I'm no longer buying every product I see in every skincare feed that I think I must have, which is what I was doing this time last year as I stumbled upon this community.
I made a lot of mistakes last year, hence my picture but I also learned a lot, most importantly I've learned what type of skin I have and how to manage it. This for me, has been HUGE.
It's one thing to say "not all skins are the same", it's another to believe it and act upon it. We are all different. This needs to be kept in mind when watching/reading paid bloggers and You Tubers. They are paid to get you to use the product of the moment and this should always be kept in the back of your head.
When I first joined this community (just as an observer, it was several months before I started my own feed), I was looking for people facing the same battles, whether it was acne, PIH, hyperpigmentation etc. I blindly bought the same cleansers, masks and oils they were using thinking they would work for me and lo and behold my skin got worse.
Why? Because I didn't understand my own skin, what ingredients I reacted to, what ingredients I needed more of and what ingredients/products I needed to stay away from. Truthfully, I had a medical issue, that needed medical help.
Through slow and helpful coaching, I've come to understand my skin so much better, which in turn has helped me utilise this social media platform much more effectively.
I research things that pertain to me and my skin health. I may not be buying the shiny bottle that everyone is lusting after and I might limit myself to only a few brands, but if that's what it takes to keep my face acne free, I'll take it (I'm sorry if my feed is really boring cause you're always seeing the same product).
