The talented Lea from @mtheoryyoga led the yoga segment of our retreat. The intention she set was "you are enough". This resonated with me. From being a creative professional, a mother, a wife, a friend. It's so important to reserve space to say "I'm enough" in the age of social media where it's so easy to fall into the comparison trap. Please keep in mind that our Instagram feeds are curated. It's our best step forward. We show our triumphs, not our numerous failures or fears. That's what yoga teaches me. Yoga was the best teacher for grief management and I'll forever thank my friend Lindsey for bringing me to a class one day when my anxiety about big life changes and grief was weighing me down. I took a class from Tara Blumenthal at Butterfly Yoga that told me for the next hour, you are 100% in control of what happens within the 4 corners of your mat. Not much else in life offers you the serenity of the present than yoga. Whatever noise, upset, or indecision waited outside for me, I felt empowered to claim a mindful moment for myself to practice gratitude for my mind, body, and spirit. Gratitude opens the doors to more relationships, improves physical and psychological health, reduces aggression, and enhances empathy. I hope to enter this week with an open mind to accept life as it is, unpredictable. Photo credit by the amazing @mindfultherapy .
